Stillwater Hosts Annual UWF Meeting

On Oct. 3-4, we hosted the Annual Meeting of the Oklahoma Conference United Women of Faith. Several special guests gave presentations. New statewide officers were installed into their leadership posts. Worship services that celebrated the unique gifts women bring to church leadership were held in our sanctuary.

Thanks to everyone from our local UWF unit for their hard work in rolling out the red carpet. Thanks to our youth who served lunch on Saturday and stayed to clean up. Thanks to David Lane for making sure our facilities were in tip-top shape to host women from all over our state. Thanks to Garett Reding for all the AV/tech support. It was a great gathering. Enjoy the photos of a great event.

New Sermon Series: Let Your Light Shine

How valuable is your flashlight when it is pitch dark outside? How frustrating is it when you flip a switch on the wall during a power outage and nothing happens? We often take light for granted. Yet, light is a common metaphor in the scriptures for understanding and insight. Without it, we would be lost.

For the next four weeks, Pastors Corey and Charla will focus on the power of light held within each one of us. We’ll be encouraged to “let our light shine,” as it says in Matthew 5:16, “so that others may see your good works and give glory to your Father in heaven.” Is your light brightly shining? Does it illuminate a path for others to follow? We can do this – together.

Lay Reader Recruitment

During September and October, members of our congregation have been leading in all three of our worship services. In the sanctuary, these leaders have brought us into worship, led our affirmation of faith and read the scripture lesson. In the Family Life Center, these leaders have read the scripture lesson and prepared the way for the sermon.

Let us celebrate their unique contributions to each worship service and how wonderful it is to hear more voices calling us to worship. Pastors Charla and Corey are particularly grateful for the gifts our Lay Readers share with us each week.

Would you like to be a lay reader and join this amazing crew of folks? Pastor Charla is putting together the schedule for November and December. If you’d like to step forward for this position of leadership, please CLICK HERE. Many thanks!

Blood Drive Final Tally

On Sunday Oct. 5, our church hosted a blood drive in the Family Life Center. Thanks to OBI for making this possible. We celebrate our unofficial numbers.
26 donors signed in
5 walk-in donors, including 1 brand new donor
Almost 25% of donors were new to our church

This is such a wonderful outreach to our community. Thanks to everyone who donated blood or attempted to donate. You are giving a priceless gift to people you will likely never meet. We appreciate your generosity!

First UMC Annual Foundation Meeting
