Promotion Sunday - August 10

Promotion Sunday is the day our Children and Youth are promoted to the next grade in Sunday School and we celebrate the beginning of the new school year!

PreK - 5th Graders and their parents will meet in the Social Hall (north side) in the Sanctuary Building for a light breakfast at 9:45am. At 10:00am, the teachers will take the children to their new classrooms.

6th Graders will also meet in the Social Hall with Irene at 9:45am. At 10:00am, Janelda will take them over as a group to their new Youth class in the Family Life Center.

7th - 12th Graders will meet upstairs in the Family Life Center at 10:00am, starting with breakfast and then a lesson and welcoming the new 6th graders.

All children (grades PreK-5th) are invited to Ultimate Air from 1:30-3:00 pm. Parents should come with their child(ren). A waiver will need to be completed before children are allowed to jump.

Momentum Youth's Arkansas Mission Trip

Last week, 10 Youth and 3 leaders traveled to Arkansas for their summer mission trip!
We’re so proud of these Youth who gave up their week to serve others and live out their theme, “Love in action.”

Thanks to the missions committee for the scholarships that made this trip possible, and of course to YOU who supported them throughout the week in prayer!

New Sermon Series: Get In the Game

We start our new sermon series this Sunday. Wear your team colors! Whether it is Thunder blue or Cowboy orange, let’s support our favorite teams.

Sunday's topic: we’ll look at the “game plan” for Team Jesus -- Love God. Love People. That’s it! Pretty simple and yet the challenge is never ending. For some good practice, you could serve at our Community Dinner on Thursday evenings…or pack a food sack for Stillwater kids. We start back on our monthly packing schedule in a few weeks.

I’ll be highlighting ministries that were born in our church and touch our community every day: Weekend Food Sacks, Community Dinner, Shower Ministry and Hope House. I’ll invite you to step into ministry with one of these four, at the prompting of the Holy Spirit, of course. No pressure, just a simple invitation.

You can do this on paper or online. You’ll find a response card in the bulletin and a response form on our app - either works and has the same questions. We’ll give you more information about ways you can connect and serve through our church and then you can decide if you want to step forward in these opportunities.

I appreciate the wonderful support the Missions Committee has given this idea. They’ve recruited folks to answer your questions after church on Sunday – to tell you more about each opportunity to serve. This is the season to “get in the game!”

I’ll see you Sunday,
Pastor Charla

Rise Against Hunger Update

Remember all the meals you packed back in May? They have been shipped to the Philippines: 7,000 islands in the Ring of Fire in the Pacific Ocean. One of the most environmentally disaster prone countries in the world, the Philippines faces near constant threats of natural disasters like earthquakes, typhoons and volcanic eruptions.

The Global Hunger Index, which assesses food insecurity based on indicators that measure undernourishment and undernutrition, categorizes the Philippines as having a “moderate” level of hunger overall. Rise Against Hunger serves the regions of the Philippines where hunger is most urgent.

To address some of the food security challenges that children, families, and communities in the Philippines face, Rise Against Hunger partners with organizations that support educational programs by providing meals to children at schools and early child development centers.
