What's New?

Sunday, October 18

Sermon Series: Love One Another
Scripture: John 14:8-14
Speaker:  Rev. Charla Gwartney

Welcome Emma Johnson

We are happy to announce that Emma Johnson joined as an affiliate member of our church on Sunday. She will keep her church membership at Acts 2 UMC in Edmond and also belong with us while she is a student at OSU. Be sure to give her a warm welcome next time you see her!

Staffing Update

We are pleased to announce that Irene Upson will fill a new staff position, Family Ministry Director, effective Oct. 15. Our Staff Parish Relations Committee considered the need for a more integrated ministry design for our students, birth to high school. They created a new position that would oversee this integration and lead us toward this goal. We are grateful that Irene Upson will be filling this position and offering guidance in this transition.

We are also opening two more staff positions that will form a Family Ministry Design Team to support Irene's leadership: Children's Associate and Youth Associate. Both positions are 3/4 time and offer health benefits in addition to the salary. If you know someone who mght be interested in either position, please have them contact Irene Upson.

Join Us at the Homecoming Parade

Everyone is invited to come together as a whole church community to watch the OSU homecoming parade! We will be gathering by Simmons Bank to enjoy the event. We hope to see you there!

Trunk or Treat

Thank you for all the candy donations. Baskets will remain through the event. Keep that candy coming!

Our Trunk or Treat will take place on Halloween night, Saturday, October 31, from 5pm-7pm in the northwest parking lot. This event gives our community a chance for a low key, safe space to gather goodies to celebrate Halloween. If you're able to help, park your car about 30 minutes before the event in this lot. You can go wild decorating your trunk or keep it simple! More trunks mean more fun! We will provide extra candy to keep you stocked through the evening. See you there!

Costume Sunday

Wear your favorite costume, Sunday, October 25, just in time for spooky season.
For all kids and kids at heart - it's your time to shine!

Last Call for Directory Entries

We are in the final stages of compiling our new church directory, particularly adding photos to entries. This is the LAST CALL for directory submissions. If you would like to have access to the directory, you'll need to be in the directory -- so don't delay. Use the button below to submit a photo via email.

We are hoping to launch the app next week. We'll be including instructions on how to download the app and set up your account. We'll also be sending our paper version to print next week for distribution on Nov. 1 & 8, hopefully.

The pictures above will show you what the first launch of this new platform looks like. The home page gives you buttons for the family listing of all entries, a list of staff, and our website. We'll be listening to your feedback about what you need and ease of use. We do have some ability to customize what is available and want to make this as user friendly as possible for our congregation.

Look for more info next week.

ECC Scholarship Donations

FUMC Early Childhood Center is honored to provide scholarships to families facing financial hardship, children at risk, and others in our community who may not otherwise have access to quality early childhood education. Through these scholarships, we strive to ensure that every child has the opportunity to learn, grow, and thrive in a nurturing and supportive environment.

We are seeking generous donations to help replenish and grow our scholarship fund. Your support can make a meaningful difference by helping provide children and families with access to the quality early childhood education they deserve. Every gift, no matter the size, helps us continue this important ministry and invest in the future of our children and our community.

Join Our Community @ The Longest Table

On Sunday, November 1, we will be partnering with several other churches in our community to host an event titled "Longest Table." The idea is simple: to share a meal together. We live in a time where there is so much divisiveness and hostility that we often forget that our neighbor is, in fact, our neighbor. One way for us to combat this is to come together at a table and share a meal, as one community. It will be at Block 34 from 5-7pm on Sunday, November 1.

Young Professionals

The next young professionals gathering will be happening on Thursday, October 22 at 7pm at Fuzzy's. If you are under 35ish and do not consider college as your primary "job," you are invited to come for a great time of fellowship!

Hope House Update

This month we had long‑sleeve shirts, pants, and plenty of fall favorites available for our families. We even had costumes and fun autumn‑themed clothing ready to go. It all came together for a successful Saturday, and we’re grateful for every family we were able to help!

Cantata Rehearsal Recruitment

Preparation for the Christmas Cantata is underway! This is a great chance to give choir a try. Regular choir rehearsal begins at 6:30pm and cantata focus begins at 8:00pm. Come join the choir!
