Celebrating 41 Years of the Faith Sunday School Class

This Sunday we joyfully celebrate the 41st Anniversary of the Faith Sunday School Class!
Since 1983, this class has been a vibrant ministry of Stillwater First United Methodist Church, created especially for our differently abled community. Over the years, it has become so much more than a Sunday morning class. It has grown into a true family of faith, a place where God’s love is experienced in teaching, worship, friendship, and joy.

For four decades, the Faith Class has been a powerful witness for what it means to be the body of Christ: a community where every person is valued, every gift is celebrated, and every heart is welcomed. We give thanks for the teachers, leaders, caregivers, volunteers, and church family who have supported this ministry. Most of all, we give thanks to God for the lives touched and the faith nurtured through this remarkable class.

Please join us this Sunday as we honor the Faith Sunday School Class and give thanks for 41 years of faithful ministry, joyful fellowship, and Christ-centered love. May their witness inspire us all to continue building a church where everyone belongs and God’s love shines brightly!

UWF Spaghetti Dinner Fundraiser

Join us for a fantastic spaghetti dinner prepared by the Stillwater United Women in Faith on Sunday, September 14! All proceeds go to local non-profits, including Stillwater Cares, Our Daily Bread, and the Wesley Foundation of Stillwater. Sending in an RSVP for the meal is free (this helps us get an idea of how many food to prepare). Donations are welcome. To RSVP for the event please CLICK HERE!

We are also seeking donation items for our sale/fundraiser - including baked goods and/or crafts. If you would be interested in helping with this, please contact Nancy Monroe, via email by CLICKING HERE or via cellphone at 405.334.8408.

Last Chance for Disciple Bible Study

Our Disciple Bible Study classes are starting right now. In the introductory course, we have 15 students participating. In the second level course, we have 11 students participating. We had our orientation session last Wednesday and are preparing for the first lesson on Sept. 10. It is not too late! If you want to join a Disciple class, reach out to Pastor Charla via email by CLICKING HERE – but don’t wait. Soon the classes will close. This is your chance to join and we’d love to have you!

New Young Adult Groups Launching

Lunch Break – Sundays at Noon
Right after worship, stick around for Lunch Break! We’ll head out (or bring in) lunch together every Sunday at 12:00 pm. It’s laid-back, no pressure, and a great way to connect with other students while sharing a meal. Come hungry, leave encouraged.

The Way – Thursdays at 7:00pm
Need a midweek reset? The Way meets every Thursday at 7:00 pm in the Chapel (next door to the sanctuary). We’ll dive into real conversations about life and faith, ask big questions, dig into scripture, and figure out together what it means to follow Jesus in today’s world. Plus, there will always be snacks and laughter!

Both groups are open to all young adults. Whether you’re new in town or have been around forever, there’s a place for you here.
Bring a friend. Bring your questions. Bring your appetite.
For more info, contact Pastor Corey by CLICKING HERE or just show up! We’d love to see you!

Annual Family Picnic

Join us for our annual Churchwide Family Picnic on Sunday, September 21st at 5:30 pm in the small parking lot south of the Family Life Center! It’s pot-luck style, so bring your lawn chair and a main or side dish to share. Hosted by our Momentum Youth; drinks and paper goods will be provided. If it rains, we’ll move inside to the multi-purpose room!

Communion Server Recruitment

We come to the Lord’s Table on the first Sunday of every month. Would you be willing to serve Communion to our congregation this fall? Pastor Charla is looking for servers on Oct. 5, Nov. 2 and Dec. 7.

If you would like to be a Communion Server, please CLICK HERE to fill out the response form. You can also send an email to Pastor Charla by CLICKING HERE; be sure to let her know which dates you are availble. Once the schedule has been set for the next three months, she’ll send it out to everyone. Thanks for being willing to serve!

Hospital Visitation Info

When you are admitted to the hospital, I know the last thing on your mind is to call the church. Since you are (hopefully) not in the hospital right now, this is a good time to discuss how we receive information about hospitalizations.

Stillwater Medical Center now allows Pastor Corey and me to request the list of all patients classified as “Methodist” when admitted. They don’t always ask when you are admitted, so make sure you tell them you want to be listed as “Methodist.” I go by on Tuesday to check the “Methodist” list and Pastor Corey goes by on Thursday. We cross check the hospital list against our church database and visit those who are members of the church.

Admittedly, this is not a fool-proof system. We’ve learned after the fact that members of our congregation were hospitalized, but they weren’t on the list we received from the hospital. It is really best if a family member can call the church to let us know you are in the hospital. We do want to know and we do want to visit. Thanks for sharing the information we need to be present for you when you are hospitalized.

Grace and peace,
Pastor Charla
