This past Sunday we welcomed Dan, Susie, and Athan Nickles into the Stillwater FUMC family! We are so excited to have you all joining us and be sure to give them a warm welcome the next time you see them!

This Sunday, September 13, will be our last day for directory photos. Once again, we’ll have a photo station set up after all three services. If you haven’t had your picture made, please stop by one of the stations. You’ll be asked to give correct contact information, choose the items to be listed in the directory, and then get a family picture made. You can also submit a family photo via email to churchoffice@fumcstw.org

We hope to have the directory available by mid-October. A note of thanks goes to Lee Freeman - she’s doing the heavy lifting to make this directory possible!

The United Women in Faith will have a fundraising Spaghetti Dinner on Sunday, September 27 in the Social Hall from 11am-1pm. The menu will include spaghetti and meatballs, salad and breadsticks and dessert. Donations will be accepted for the meal. In addition to the meal, at 9:30am there will be a bake sale and craft sale in the hallway leading to the Social Hall. Items for sale will be our famous hand-painted pumpkins, needle crafts and other handcrafted items. All proceeds from the meal and craft sale will be donated to three local agencies: Our Daily Bread, Wings of Hope and Payne County Youth Services.

The purpose of United Women in Faith members is to know God and to experience freedom as whole persons through Jesus Christ, to develop a creative, supportive fellowship and to expand concepts of mission through participation the global ministries of the church. Membership is open to any person who indicates their desire to belong and to participate in the global mission of the church through UWF.

The Church Council of Stillwater First United Methodist Church will meet on Tuesday, September 15, at 6:00pm in the Social Hall. Items for the agenda: review upcoming Charge Conference items and discuss key matters related to the church’s facilities.

Pastor Charla will present the Charge Conference items, including the proposed leadership slate for 2027, membership updates, and the recommendation of Aidan Shelton to become a Certified Candidate for Ministry. The Trustees will present information about the sanctuary roof replacement project, its anticipated cost, and the need for financial support through the Stillwater FUMC Foundation. In addition to requesting grant funds, the Trustees will also request a loan from the foundation to help cover project expenses.

All members of the church are welcome to attend and hear the discussion with voice. Voting is reserved for members of the Church Council. Everyone is encouraged to attend, stay informed, and participate in the shared work of planning, stewardship, and ministry leadership within the church.

There is a new women's Bible study starting up on Tuesday, September 22nd, at 9:30am, in the Parlor (Sanctuary Building.)  They will be using the book, "Making Peace with What I Can't Control: Find Relief from the Exhaustion of Overthinking, Trying to Fix Others, and Wanting to Figure it All Out."  The author is Lysa Terkeurst.  All are welcome to join and if you have any questions contact Velda Lorenz @ 405-269-8287

This week, we received word that meals packed back in May with Rise Against Hunger have made their way to El Salvador, their final destination.

Located in Central America, El Salvador is the smallest and most densely populated country in the region. While the country has made progress in reducing poverty in recent decades, many families continue to face challenges accessing nutritious food due to economic inequality, climate-related disasters and rising food costs.

Rural communities are particularly vulnerable to food insecurity and malnutrition, especially during periods of drought and severe weather. The Global Hunger Index, which assesses food insecurity based on indicators that measure undernourishment and undernutrition, categorizes El Salvador as having a “moderate” level of hunger.
