Meet our new Nursery Director, Kylee Kemper! Kylee joined as an affiliate member in March. Kylee is also on staff with our Early Childhood Center. We are excited for her step into this new role on staff with our church. 

On Thursday, Sept. 10 at 7:45 pm, join us at the McKnight Center for Movies on the Plaza. This is a free event, open to the community. The movie is outside, so bring your lawn chairs or blankets. Come have fun with friends from church and meet some new friends too!

We had 100+ households get their pictures made this past Sunday for our upcoming photo directory. If you missed this opportunity, we'll have another picture day on Sunday, Sept. 13, after each worship service. You can also submit your photo via email. Send it to: churchoffice@fumcstw.org.

Directory access will be available to everyone who is listed in the directory. Online access will be provided through a password protected app. We will also print copies of the directory and make them available for the cost to print them, likely $5-10/copy. Our goal for rolling out our new directory is mid-October.

Parents and youth are invited this Wednesday, September 9 at 6:30 p.m. in the Youth Space on the 2nd floor of the Family Life Center. We’ll gather to talk about what’s ahead for our youth ministry, share important updates, do some important planning together, and make space for questions and conversation.

REMINDER: No youth choir or youth group meeting this Sunday, Sept. 6, in honor of the Labor Day weekend.

The summer months are here! We started our new fiscal year in July. Year-to-date, our expenses are outpacing our income by $56,581. However, in the month of August, our deficit (-$6,898) was much better than July (-$51,915.) The reasons for our deficit are two-fold. First, our contributions have not met budgeted expectation. Second, our facility expense has been slightly higher than expected due to some one time expenses.

Thanks to your generous gifts, we have reserve funds to cover months where expenses outpace contributions. We'll keep you updated each month. If you would like to see a full copy of our financial statements, please reach out to Daniel Guthrie, our Church Administrator. We are always happy to answer any questions you might and to receive your suggestions for improvements to our processes. 

Pastor Charla will begin a five-week Wednesday evening class called, “Connect,” on September 9. Join her for a look at the basics of being United Methodist. Beginning with the foundational beliefs of Christianity, the class will also explore unique emphases in the United Methodist Church. This course will meet from 6:30-7:30pm on Wednesday evenings in the Social Hall. Join us for the Midweek Meal (cost: $8/person) and stay for this course.

Each week, we bring in supper on Wednesdays from a local restaurant. This week, we'll have Hideaway Pizza and salad. We serve from 5:30-6:15pm and charge $8/person, $20 max/family. If you're coming for Pastor Charla's class, come early and enjoy a meal together.

There is a new women's Bible study starting up on Tuesday, September 22nd, at 9:30am, in the Parlor (Sanctuary Building.)  They will be using the book, "Making Peace with What I Can't Control: Find Relief from the Exhaustion of Overthinking, Trying to Fix Others, and Wanting to Figure it All Out."  The author is Lysa Terkeurst.  All are welcome to join and if you have any questions contact Velda Lorenz @ 405-269-8287
