First Church has a strong commitment to serving God’s Kingdom beyond the Stillwater community. This is done by the church’s giving to the United Methodist apportionment system and by supporting special projects and relief efforts throughout the United States and around the globe. Highlights of some of our specific mission projects are found below.
Mission Trips
A number of mission teams from First UMC are sent out each year. On a regular basis, our church sends teams to places in Oklahoma impacted by inclement weather, the UMCOR Sager Brown Depot in Baldwin Louisiana, and to the country of Bolivia to provide medical and construction aid.

rise against hunger
Every year, the First Church family joins with other areas United Methodist Churches in raising money during the season of Lent and packaging thousands of meals one Sunday afternoon during the Easter season. These meals are sent throughout the United States and around the world to places of extreme poverty and hunger or to areas that have recently experienced natural disasters.

Additional Giving
First Church joins with other United Methodist Churches around the world in local and worldwide missions through the apportionment giving and special offerings. Through the generosity of the First Church family of faith we, along with our fellow United Methodists, participate in and support ministries to the incarcerated, foster children, those in poverty, college students, victims of natural disasters, global ministries, and so much more. In this way, we at First Church acknowledge that we are called to share the Good News of Jesus Christ not just with the community of Stillwater, but with God’s children around the globe.
